New School Based Programs That Promote Adolescent Mental Health
Educational leaders often struggle to
know what works well in terms of promoting the mental health of
young people in schools. Here are some links to curriculum
materials that are highly regarded by adolescent psychologists.

Friends
Anxiety Prevention Program
- a world-leading resilience-building, anxiety prevention
and treatment program that has been scientifically
validated using rigorous randomised control studies.
Resourceful
Adolescent Program
- RAP based programs using a predominantly cognitive-
behavioural approach, with elements drawn from other
theoretical models. RAP is implemeted in groups of up to
15.
Mind
Matters -
MindMatters is a mental health promotion program for
secondary schools. The program includes a resource for
schools, a national professional development and training
strategy, a dedicated website an evaluation process.
MindMatters is a program to support Australian secondary
schools in promoting and protecting the mental health of
members of school communities.
Indicated
Adolescents
Coping with Emotions
(MS Word document) - ACE aims to build resilience,
enhance coping skills and teach positive thinking styles
in young people. It's an indicated depression
prevention program. It's designed for adolescents
with low mood: the group who will gain most from joining
in the program.
